Google Business Profile suspended? Here's how reinstatement actually works.

Suspensions come in two flavors — soft and hard — and they are almost always triggered by an edit, an address problem, or a guideline violation Google's automated systems flagged. Fix the underlying cause first, then file one clean reinstatement request with evidence.

Short answer: A suspended Google Business Profile is reinstated by fixing the guideline violation that caused it and filing a reinstatement request with proof the business is real and operating at the stated location. Do not create a new listing, and do not appeal twice before Google responds — duplicate appeals slow the queue and can get the profile permanently removed.

Suspensions are almost never random. Something changed.

The most common trigger is an edit: you changed the business name, the address, the primary category, or the URL, and the automated review that follows every edit flagged the account. The second most common is an address that Google cannot reconcile — a virtual office, a coworking space, a PO box, or a residential address left visible on a service-area business.

Then there is keyword stuffing in the business name. "Dave's Plumbing" is fine. "Dave's Plumbing | Emergency Plumber Near Me | 24/7 Drain Cleaning" is a violation, it works right up until it doesn't, and it is the single most-reported cause of hard suspension in the home services categories.

A soft suspension keeps your listing live but removes your ability to manage it — you lose the dashboard, not the traffic. A hard suspension removes the listing from Maps and Search entirely, and every review with it. Both are appealable; only the hard one is an emergency.

The reinstatement itself rewards preparation, not persistence. One request, with the violation already corrected and clean evidence attached, beats five angry follow-ups.

The reinstatement sequence

  1. 01
    1. Identify the trigger before you appeal
Look at what changed in the 30 days before the suspension: name edits, address edits, category changes, a new website URL, a bulk upload, or a new manager added to the account. Fix the violation first — appealing an uncorrected profile is an automatic denial.
  2. 02
    2. Clean the name and address
Business name must match real-world signage exactly, with no keywords, city names, or taglines. If you're a service-area business, the address must be hidden and the service areas set by region. If you use a shared or virtual office, expect denial — that address is not eligible.
  3. 03
    3. Assemble the evidence
Photos of exterior signage and the building, a utility bill or lease in the business name at that address, business license or registration, insurance certificate, a photo of a branded vehicle, and photos of the interior. Everything must show the same name and address as the profile.
  4. 04
    4. File one reinstatement request
Use the official reinstatement form, describe the correction you already made in one paragraph, and attach the evidence. Then wait — typical turnaround is three business days to two weeks. Do not submit again while it is pending.
  5. 05
    5. If denied, escalate once with new evidence
A denial usually means the evidence didn't establish the address. Reply on the same thread with stronger proof — a dated lease, a signed utility bill, video of the signage. Never open a parallel case or create a new listing; that is how a recoverable suspension becomes permanent.

Other Google Business Profile problems we fix

Not showing on Maps
Nine times out of ten it is one of six things: the profile isn't verified, it's suspended, it's a duplicate, the address or service area is wrong, the category is wrong, or you're simply outside the search radius you're testing from. Work through them in that order.
Verification failed
Video verification is now the default for most service businesses, and it fails for predictable reasons: the recording didn't establish location, didn't show proof of management, or was cut into pieces. One continuous take that hits all three checkpoints passes.
Reviews not showing
Reviews disappear for three reasons: the spam filter caught them, the reviewer's account was flagged, or someone reported them. Most filtered reviews are recoverable, and most are caused by how the review was requested rather than what it said.
Wrong info on profile
Google accepts edits from users, from third-party data, and from its own machine learning. If your hours, address, phone, or category keep reverting, something outside your dashboard is feeding Google a different answer — and until you fix that source, the edits will keep coming back.
Duplicate listing
Duplicates split your reviews, split your ranking signals, and send customers to a phone number you may not even own anymore. The fix is to claim the duplicate and request a merge so the review history consolidates onto the listing you keep.
Someone claimed my listing
Usually it's a former marketing agency, a previous employee, or the person who set the profile up years ago on a personal account. Google has a formal ownership request process, and it works — but only if you can prove the business is yours.

Common questions

How long does Google take to reinstate a suspended profile?

Most reinstatement decisions come back within three business days to two weeks. Complex cases involving address eligibility or repeat suspensions can take a month. Filing duplicate requests restarts the clock rather than speeding it up.

Do I lose my reviews if my profile is suspended?

Reviews are hidden during a hard suspension but they are not deleted. When the profile is reinstated, the review history comes back with it. This is the main reason not to abandon a suspended listing and start a new one.

What gets a home services business suspended most often?

Keywords in the business name, a visible residential address on a service-area business, a virtual or shared office address, and rapid edits to name or category shortly after verification.

Can you handle the reinstatement for me?

Yes. Reinstatement work is included in the $297 setup when a suspension is the reason you're coming to us — we identify the trigger, correct the profile, assemble the evidence pack, and file the request. From there the timeline is Google's, not ours.
