Verification failed or stuck in review? Here's what Google is actually looking for.

Video verification is now the default for most service businesses, and it fails for predictable reasons: the recording didn't establish location, didn't show proof of management, or was cut into pieces. One continuous take that hits all three checkpoints passes.

  • Why video verification fails
  • The one-take checklist
  • Stuck in review?
  • Appeal path
Short answer: Google Business Profile video verification fails when the recording doesn't prove three things in one unbroken take: that the location is real and matches the address, that the business operates there, and that you personally have management access. Re-record in a single continuous shot showing street signage, the surrounding area, your tools or stock, and finally your keys, dashboard login, or branded paperwork.

The reviewer is checking three boxes, not judging your videography.

Box one: location evidence. The video must connect the outside world to the address on the profile — street sign, building number, nearby cross street, storefront or driveway. Starting the video inside a room proves nothing and is the most common failure.

Box two: business evidence. Show the work: branded vehicle, tools, stock, equipment, signage, uniforms. For a service-area plumbing business, the van with the wrap and a truck full of fittings is stronger than an office.

Box three: management evidence. End on something only the owner or manager would have — keys to the vehicle or building, the till, a signed invoice book, branded documents, or the business software already logged in.

Everything must be in one continuous recording, no edits, no cuts, no jumping between locations. If the video is rejected twice, request the appeal rather than recording a third identical one — a second failure usually means an address eligibility problem the video cannot solve.

The one-take video that passes

  1. 01
    Start outside, wide
Film the street sign and the building number or driveway first. Pan slowly to a nearby landmark or cross street so the reviewer can place you geographically. Do not zoom or cut.
  2. 02
Walk in without stopping the recording
Keep filming as you move from the street to the vehicle, shop, or workspace. The continuity is the proof — a cut between outside and inside is treated as two separate videos.
  3. 03
    Show the business operating
Branded van, tools, inventory, work in progress, uniforms, signage on the trailer. Narrate briefly: what the business is, where it is, what you're showing.
  4. 04
    Finish on proof of management
Vehicle keys in your hand, the office keys, a signed job sheet, an invoice book, or your business software open on a screen. Then stop recording.
  5. 05
If it's stuck rather than failed
Pending review for more than two weeks with no decision usually means the profile is queued behind an eligibility check. Don't edit the profile while pending — edits reset the review. Contact support through the profile and reference the pending case.

Other Google Business Profile problems we fix

Not showing on Maps
Nine times out of ten it is one of six things: the profile isn't verified, it's suspended, it's a duplicate, the address or service area is wrong, the category is wrong, or you're simply outside the search radius you're testing from. Work through them in that order.
Profile suspended
Suspensions come in two flavors — soft and hard — and they are almost always triggered by an edit, an address problem, or a guideline violation Google's automated systems flagged. Fix the underlying cause first, then file one clean reinstatement request with evidence.
Reviews not showing
Reviews disappear for three reasons: the spam filter caught them, the reviewer's account was flagged, or someone reported them. Most filtered reviews are recoverable, and most are caused by how the review was requested rather than what it said.
Wrong info on profile
Google accepts edits from users, from third-party data, and from its own machine learning. If your hours, address, phone, or category keep reverting, something outside your dashboard is feeding Google a different answer — and until you fix that source, the edits will keep coming back.
Duplicate listing
Duplicates split your reviews, split your ranking signals, and send customers to a phone number you may not even own anymore. The fix is to claim the duplicate and request a merge so the review history consolidates onto the listing you keep.
Someone claimed my listing
Usually it's a former marketing agency, a previous employee, or the person who set the profile up years ago on a personal account. Google has a formal ownership request process, and it works — but only if you can prove the business is yours.

Common questions

How long does Google Business Profile verification take?

Video verification decisions typically land within five business days, though queues can stretch to two or three weeks. Postcard verification runs about 14 days. If nothing has happened after three weeks, contact support rather than resubmitting.

Can I verify a service-area business with no storefront?

Yes. Service-area businesses verify all the time — the video just needs to establish the base of operations, usually a home office plus a branded vehicle and equipment. Hide the address on the profile and set service areas by city or region.

Why did my verification fail twice with the same video?

Because the reviewer is failing it on the same missing checkpoint. Re-watch your recording against the three boxes above — location, business, management — and if all three are clearly present, the issue is address eligibility, which needs the appeal path instead of another recording.

Do you handle verification for clients?

We coach it. We tell you exactly what to film, in what order, and review the recording before you submit — but Google requires the person with actual access to the premises to shoot it, so the camera has to be in your hands.
