A2P 10DLC

A2P 10DLC (application-to-person, 10-digit long code) is the US carrier registration system for businesses that send texts from standard local phone numbers. The business and its message use case must be registered before sending, or carriers filter or block the messages.

Registration covers two things: the brand (the business's legal identity) and the campaign (what kind of messages it sends, with sample texts and how people opt in).

Every message needs a clear way to opt out, usually replying STOP, and opt-outs must be honored immediately.

Review requests are a normal registered use case as long as customers gave their number as part of doing business.

Why it matters

Unregistered business texting in the US gets throttled or dropped, so review requests quietly never arrive.

Common questions

Do I need 10DLC to send review requests?

In the US, yes, if texts come from a regular local number. RapidLocal handles registration during setup.

Does 10DLC apply in Canada or Mexico?

10DLC is a US system. Canada and Mexico have their own consent and carrier rules, which still require opt-in and STOP handling.
